The Darkness would put even Lilith to shame…recap of Episode 2 of Supernatural

(The CW)

So what’s creepier than having basically all evil in the form of a baby? Having that baby suddenly speed grow by a few years. What’s worse than that? Having Crowley  try to strike a deal with her. It’s about to get real messy. Poor Jenna didn’t stand a chance with The Darkness aka Amara in her house. First off, after noticing all of the strange things happening, she decided to soothe Amara anyway instead of staying far away. That was a real dumb move. To top it off, her grandmother called Crowley for the exorcism. Granted, she had no way of knowing that she was dealing with the King of Hell but it was still a bad move. Speaking of the King, he finally took back his independence and made it clear that he wasn’t friends with the Winchesters. Rowena would be proud but now there’s really nothing stopping Sam & Dean from killing him. But first, The Darkness.

I’m proud of Sam for being able to figure out how to stop the “zombie virus” from killing him. It took some praying but he did it. The action in this season so far has been pretty up there and I’m curious to see just how explosive it gets. I’m assuming The Darkness will be the Big Bad for most of the season and we have yet to see her true power. What she has done so far is pretty scary so knowing that there’s more to come is awesome. As for Cas, he should be getting some help in tonight’s episode. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed.

The Darkness is an actual woman. Wow…recap of the Season 11 premiere of Supernatural

(The CW)

When we last left Sam and Dean, they were stuck with the consequence of killing Death and removing the Mark. This consequence was a dark cloud that ripped through the town and caused people to turn into zombies, basically. This was caused by The Darkness who is actually a woman. This same woman “saved” Dean because she claims they were connected because he freed her. Yeah, she was slightly creepy. She also said that she would be right by Dean’s side. I was thinking she meant in an eerie spirit way but it was soon revealed that she was the baby that was being escorted by Dean and new girl Jenna. Dean and The Darkness almost kissed and now she’s a baby. Starting the weirdness early, I see. As for Sam, well now he’s infected with whatever the Darkness zombies have. It’s the first freaking episode and there’s already something wrong with him. Poor thing.

Now for the part that had me dying on the inside. Crowley’s demon form/smoke/spirit had to temporarily enter a woman so we had female Crowley and it was wonderful. And then female Crowley proceeded to have an orgy. Good times. It didn’t last though as he was reunited with his old self. I kinda wish that had lasted longer than one episode. It would’ve been interesting and hilarious to see him interact with Sam and Dean. Oh well. What else happened? Oh that’s right…Cas! He had been infected with whatever spell Rowena put on him and it caused him to behave rather erratically. Well at least he was aware of what was going on and tried to stop himself. Too bad the angels got to him first. It looks like there’s gonna be lots of action in tonight’s episode.

What did the Winchesters unleash this time?!…recap of the Season 10 Finale of Supernatural

(The CW/Hulu)

Good always prevails on this show. It just takes a few episodes. Or an entire season. We all knew Dean would eventually fight back but he almost didn’t make it this time. He almost killed Sam and sent himself to another dimension to save the people of Earth. Sam’s pleading eyes were like a hammer to the heart. Although I assumed that Dean wouldn’t really go through with it all, I was still hanging on to the edge of my seat with my eyes wide open. Meanwhile, Rowena was forced to kill the only person she ever loved in order to complete the spell. She may not have been fond of Crowley but she did end up finding someone else to treat like a son. Seeing her heart break as she was forced to kill him was actually pretty rough. Who knew she even had a heart? But because of her bravery, Dean was cured of the Mark. This, of course, happened after Dean turned on Death and killed him instead of Sam. Yep, not only did he kill a reaper but he killed Death itself/himself. I wasn’t aware that it was even possible but he did use Death’s scythe which I guess could even kill him. Assuming he’s really dead, it’s sad to see the character finally go. He hasn’t been major in quite some time but he was always a fan favorite. R.I.P. Death (if it’s possible). Now, about the Darkness that they unleashed on the world that Death clearly warned them about….

See you next season!

Be nice, Dean!…recap of Episode 22 of Supernatural

(The CW/Hulu)

Confession: I was in tears by the end of this episode although the only people who died were Stynes. The last 5 minutes tugged on my heart and the waterworks were coming. Dean, regardless if he’s a demon or just carrying the Mark, is no longer the same man. He’s been fighting the Mark for most of this season but it’s finally starting to wear him down. He had a good reason to be mad and go after the Stynes but he took it too far. His rage caused him to take the life of the youngest family member who didn’t even like his family. But that’s not the worst of it. He almost killed Cas. Seriously. We’ve seen them all fight each other whether possessed by Lucifer or turned into a newborn God and it never gets any easier to watch. Seeing Dean beat the crap out of Castiel and contemplate killing him gave me haunting chills. He even warned that if either Cas or Sam got in his way that he wouldn’t hesitate to kill them. This is serious. If they don’t find a way to save Dean, Season 11 may be the last season. The only other highlight from the episode was Sam’s attempt to kill Crowley that backfired horribly. Guess Rowena’s magic doesn’t work. Guess this also means that “Buddy Crowley” is gone. Maybe that was secretly Rowena’s plan all along. I must say that it was pretty cute that Crowley showed up so fast because he thought Dean had called him. Bromance at its very best. Tonight is the Season 10 Finale and I am bubbling with excitement. Can they save Dean or will I be sobbing?

Death…Death everywhere…recap of Episodes 20 & 21 of Supernatural

This is my first joint recap so just hang in there. I only plan to do these when I’m super far behind with posting. Lucky for me, they both had sad elements so it made coming up with a catchy title pretty easy.

Episode 20: Angel Heart

Any episode with Claire is a tricky one. She has every reason to walk around with a heavy heart and anger but as fans, we want her to trust Cas. He means well and has an understanding of why she’s so hurt. With that being said, it was fun to see Jimmy again. It didn’t last long but he’s a secret favorite character of mine. So let’s get down to angel business. If this show has taught me anything, it’s that angels are dicks. Simple as that. The one featured in this episode is a shining example of that. His name was Tamiel and apparently he was a type of angel that fed on humans. The proper term is “Grigori”. Just when I thought that the writers had ran out of mythology to include, they hit us with this. I can’t keep up. Well Tamiel had been keeping Claire’s mom captive and feeding off of her. A rescue mission happens and it ends up going horribly wrong. Although she’s 18 now, Claire is now basically an orphan and her only trusted companions are Cas, Sam, and Dean. It’s a sad tale that the boys know all too well. But she’ll be okay. Let’s not forget that she has an angel watching out for her.

Episode 21: Dark Dynasty

I decided to watch this episode on Thursday on Hulu. I’m glad I did because I would’ve been SCREAMING both physically and virtually on Twitter. Actually, I did more silent screaming than anything. I don’t want to go straight into the ending just yet because…I’m not ready to discuss it. To start this off, let me just say: I hate the Styne family. Even more than Dick Roman and definitely more than Cole. They were first introduced as just this douchebag family that causes horrible events and “owns” the Book of the Damned. Little did anyone suspect that they’re even more twisted than just that. They harvest body parts to add to themselves and make them a bit more than average. As soon as this part was mentioned, I had a feeling they were going into a certain territory. The more Eldon Styne talked about the family, the more I started to suspect that it was about to take a ridiculous yet fascinating turn. And it did. The Stynes are actually the Frakensteins. This actually made me very happy. I LOVE when Supernatural digs into familiar and pop culture mythology. The last time I can recall them doing this was with Charlie and the Wizard of Oz. Oh Charlie…I’m not there yet. Before I get to that, let’s talk about her secretly working with Rowena and Cas to decode the Book of the Damned. It was like the study group from Hell. Rowena talked good game to Charlie but I’m just now realizing that it was actually foreshadowing. Yes, the Winchesters can put you into grave danger but they can also save you from it. With that being said, I’m sure she’s not totally dead. Or maybe she is. My heart stopped once I saw her lying in that tub. The episode abruptly ended right after that so there’s hope that they can save her. If they can’t, it’ll weigh heavily on their hearts and probably fuel Dean to go off and find a way to defeat the Stynes and cure himself without Sam or Cas. I actually think that’s the plot of the next episode. If this really is the end, maybe I’ll bid her farewell in a post.

Hey there, Benny!…recap of Episode 19 of Supernatural

(The CW/Hulu)

Once you start having hallucinations that you’re back in Purgatory, you know you’re in trouble. But Dean had it (mostly) all figured out. Sam tried to go on a secret mission to find a mystical box that would cure Dean but big bro wanted in. The box was located in the house of a woman whose life had been destroyed by it until it was locked up. Whatever was in it, caused her family to all commit suicide. Guess who wasn’t aware of this and set it free? Oh Sam. This is what caused Dean’s Purgatory hallucination that resulted in him coming face to face with Benny. This season has seen a lot of people come back in various ways. Charlie played a major part in the past few episodes and Bobby temporarily escaped heaven to help the boys. I think this is a way of showing how the show may eventually come full circle. It has been 10 years! I hope the series ends with a movie. Doesn’t matter if it’s in theaters or only on The CW. But back to the recap. While Dean was in mental pre-Hell, Sam was busy trying to figure out a way to capture whatever he let out. Then Rowena appeared. Leave it to Momma Crowley to know about this type of evil. Apparently the box needed blood of one of the Men of Letters to close and Sam was trying his hardest to bleed enough for it but he was barely conscious. In comes Dean to the rescue since he was done fighting his imaginary battle with Benny. The day was saved but that just meant that it’s becoming harder and harder to find a cure for The Mark. According to IMDb, not including last night’s episode, 3 more episodes remain. Will there be a cure? I sure as hell hope so.

You can never have enough Charlie episodes…recap of Episode 18 of Supernatural

(The CW/Hulu)

So what happens when you mix The Book of the Damned, Charlie, a human Metatron, and a surprise visit from Rowena? Last week’s episode. So Charlie is brought in to decode the Book of the Damned which may have a “cure” for The Mark. Awesome, right? Except that it’s being hunted by its so-called original family, the Stynes. Greeeaaaat. On the other side of the episode, Castiel and Metatron were searching for Castiel’s grace. Watching Metatron delight in common human pleasures was funny. Especially when he devoured waffles and got a case of diarrhea. Good times. Although things went a bit crazy, at least Cas got his grace back. Granted, Metatron got back the Demon Tablet but that’s a battle for another day. Charlie and The Winchesters were able to fight off the Stynes and Sam secretly kept the book he pretended to burn. Who could help him translate it though? Possibly the best witch to ever grace the show, Rowena. Nothing good could ever come out of making a deal with the King of Hell’s bitter mum. Guess we’ll have to see where this is headed. I’ll admit something about me watching this episode: I was still in shock from Arrow. I had to shake it off and focus but it was hard. At least this episode was pretty chill and didn’t leave me gasping. Wait…Cas did kinda die at one point but I knew that wasn’t gonna last forever. You can never keep a good angel down.

Bobby and Cas in one episode? Perfect…recap of Episode 17 of Supernatural

(The CW/Hulu)

This episode made me genuinely happy. Two beloved (and one not so loved) characters came back in order to find a way to help Dean. I wasn’t even aware that Castiel wasn’t in a lot of the episodes this season until this episode. It was good to have him and Bobby back. I find it interesting that heaven puts people/souls into these rooms that are supposed to be their idea of heaven. It seems both lovely and boring. Bobby was just sitting in his chair listening to the radio. So basically his heaven was like retirement. Although he didn’t have anything to worry about anymore, it still seemed a bit unimpressive. So Bobby was instructed to find a way out and cause a distraction that would help Castiel sneak in. From there he kidnapped Metatron. Unfortunately, all of this was for nothing because Metatron knew nothing about getting rid of The Mark. Sam really tried though.

On the other side of the episode, Dean was enjoying himself in a bar and was attacked by Rowena. Well, she attempted to attack him but of course he’s protected by The Mark. In one last attempt to get her son to stand up for her, she comes back bloodied in order to get Crowley to kill Dean. Crowley goes to talk to Dean about it because that’s just how they deal with everything now. They sit and drink and Dean gives him some great advice about family. So what does Crowley do? Kick Rowena out. Classic King of Hell (with human blood in him). Through all of this, neither Dean nor Sam admit to the other what happened. The Winchesters lying to each other is never a good thing so I expect to see how this plays out by the season finale. Supernatural returns April 15.
